Before your Consultation
1 / Prepare a list of medications.
Please be ready with a list of your medications, as it helps our staff during your consultation.
2 / Don't forget to bring your OHIP card, any eye drops you are currently using, and a pair of sunglasses.
Your pupils will be dilated during your appointment, which may cause some sensitivity to light. For your comfort, please bring a pair of sunglasses.
3 / If needed, ask a trusted friend or relative to come with you to your appointment.
We discuss quite a few details during the appointment, so it may be helpful to bring a partner, friend, or family member.
At Your Consultation
1
Prior to meeting with the surgeon, we will take a few scans of your eyes.
These scans allow us to best assess your ocular health. These scans are non-invasive, quick, and safe.
2
We will take a detailed medical and ocular history.
We will also assess your current vision using a Snellen chart, which you may have seen at your local optometrist's office.
3
You will meet with your surgeon, who will discuss the details of the procedure with you.
At this time, please feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding cataracts surgery.
4
We will send you home with a Cataract Surgery Package.
Please fill out the highlighted forms within the package and bring them back to your surgical counselling appointment.
