AFTER YOUR SURGERY

Your eye will take about 6 - 8 weeks to heal after surgery. It is normal for your eye to be red, uncomfortable, light sensitive, teary, and blurred following surgery. These symptoms will improve over time.

After the surgery, you may experience temporary drowsiness, difficulty concentrating and nausea. These are side effects from sedation. Allow yourself the rest of the day to rest and sleep.

HOW ABOUT GLASSES?

It is normal for the operated eye to feel out of focus initially and may take days to weeks for the vision to stabilize.

Your old glasses may no longer be suitable for your eye after surgery. A new prescription for glasses is given approximately 1 month after surgery by your optometrist.

In the meantime, you may continue to use your old spectacles by removing the lens from the spectacle frame on the side of the operated eye. If you are scheduled to have surgery on your other eye, you may want to wait until both eyes have had surgery before obtaining a new pair of glasses.
